THE VILLA

The Villa Cannizzo is a suggestive Hotel deep into the sicilian oasis country, it was restored respecting the architecture of that time by the grand-nephew Marco and niece Maria Stefania Cannizzo.

The Villa is close to Modica's old county in the heart of the sicilian baroque, of noto's valley, where you can feel the historical presence.

The hotel is also close to the sea with kilometers of rose sand beaches. Taormina, Etna, Agrigento and Siracuse are also close by.

Villa Cannizzo is a tipical nineteenth century noble residence of Modica's old county, surrounded by many farmhouses and churches that were desecrated later. It once belonged to the noble consorts Don Ignazio Cannizzo and the noble lady Maria Terranova.

The Villa is situated in Michelica of Modica, many villas were built in this area for the nobles of Modica where they would sojorn here untill the autumn which was a custom of that time. Today the Villa has been restored respecting the original plans and the style of that time, taking care where possible to preserve the ancient flooring in stone, pitch, limestone and the forniture too.

In front of the gate was also recovered an ancient farmyard which was modified later in a sort of outside livingroom. After words a garden seat was built in the perimetal where the Cannizzo family received their guests during the hot summer afternoons.

A beautiful stone court, in the farmyard side is surronded, like the entire villa by a stone wall. The same wall which defines the edge of the ancient promenade.

The villa it self has the same feeling of the sicilian countryside filled with palmtrees, olivetrees, immense greenery which makes it so pictoresque, ideal for relaxing but at the same time close to Modica and modern amenites.
